Dutch gold

Recently, I went to see the gorgeous trio, The Staves, live in Cork. While I was there I was pleasantly surprised at their support act, Christof. Usually, I'd be impatient to see the main act, but Christof was really soothing and charming. He hails from Holland and started out busking when he moved to Galway. The charming folk singer has such an awkwardness about him, it’s rather cute. That along with his sweet music makes your heart skip a beat. Lyrically, his songs reflect his sensitivity and gentleness but with a certain conviction. This guy is a hidden talent, just have a listen to to his stuff and you'll see that Christof van der Ven has come a long way from his busking days. His Galwegian accent even comes through in my favourite track of his, 'Tears of Honey'. I'm surprised I haven’t heard of him before, but I guess you can't know everyone. Oh well, you know what they say...So many artists, so little time.
