There has been a bit of a dry spell in terms of new or exciting artists at the moment. But 16 year old Orlando native, Marcel Everett, is something special. I couldn't but blog about him as he keeps popping up around the place and I love seeing new young artists make their way to being so subtly noticed. The electronic producer, who goes by the name xxyyxx, is the epitome of talent and has already released an album. I find his music to be an insight into teenage life as we see in each video there are clips of drug usage and an overall depressing hypnotic state, but at the same time it's of a mature and experienced view. His mellow sounds provokes emotion like no other artist around. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing more of his stuff. Like many artists, he's unsure or just reluctant to give a genre for his music. When I asked him if the type of music he makes is chillwave, he just replied, "my extremely expired material was considered chillwave but ive strayed from that so long ago." Listen here to his latest music video for About You, it's pretty unreal.
