Touch of silver

Tavi

With entering a new year, comes a new craze. Mine, has just arrived, but it's not one that many will be too fond of. If it were actually acceptable in such a narrow-minded society, then hell ya I'd go for it. But for this fad you need to have the bravery and a blasé mindset, because people are going to look at you with disapproval and confusion. Basically, if I were to live in London or New York, it'd be full sails ahead. But alas I'm not, so I'll just have to obsess from the outsiders point-of-view. Flick through any fashion magazine and you'll see actresses and music artists alike falling for the latest hot hair trend. Silver hair. It's a must-have in the big world of celebs (I say with envy). It truly is a unique trend. It may seem like the biggest contradiction, in terms of any woman having a panic attack at the mere discovery when a single strand of grey hair appears.

But that's the fun of it, in my opinion. Who said grey hair was only for the old? No one, it's just been the norm since the beginning of time. But the norm is so boring and everyone likes to stand out a little if not a lot. I think people just have this mindset that grey means old and wrinkled, but in fact it means the complete opposite; it means wisdom, nature, beauty. It wreaks confidence, if anything. If you've got blonde hair, it's a great twist to combine some silver, also adding touches of other colours (like lilac and blue) gives it a nice edge. The only thing is, it needs to suit you. One tip is to use a wash-out silver so if it doesn't suit, it can be gone within the week. Celebs like Kate Moss, Pixie Geldof, Marina and the Diamonds, Lady Gaga and even little icon Tavi Gevinson have been seen with the same hair as your granny. So, if you dare to be different, do it in style with the colour of the season- Silver.
